Edit a graphic's variables and save presets in PandaStudio

Every editable graphic in PandaStudio has a Variables panel with a typed field for each setting, and you can save those values as a named preset to apply to any other graphic made from the same template.

Select a graphic you made in PandaStudio and its fields show up as proper controls: text and multi-line text, numbers with a slider when they have a range, colours with your brand swatches, images you pick from a file or your Brand assets (such as the logo), fonts, on/off switches and choice lists. Update graphic re-renders it in place, keeping its timing, position and sound. Save the values as a preset, for example Client A lower third, and it is kept in the workspace so any other graphic from the same template can take the same look in one click. Images are embedded in the preset, so it keeps working if the original file moves.

In the app

  1. 1Click a graphic on the timeline. The Edit graphic panel opens with its Variables.
  2. 2Change the fields. Colour fields show your brand colours as swatches; image fields have Pick image file and Choose a Brand asset, plus Clear image. Less common settings sit under More options.
  3. 3Click Update graphic to re-render it in place.
  4. 4Under Presets, type a name (for example Client A lower third) and click Save as preset. Saving again with the same name replaces it.
  5. 5On another graphic made from the same template, click Apply next to the preset, then Update graphic. Delete removes a preset.

Ask the AI

Open the AI chat in the editor and say any of these. The agent does the edits for you.

“Change the lower third's name to Dana Ruiz and use the brand logo.”
“Save this lower third's settings as a preset called Client A lower third.”
“Apply the Client A lower third preset to every lower third in this video.”

CLI & MCP

Every capability is a verb, reachable from the terminal or from an MCP agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, Continue, Claude Desktop).

motion.variables
pandastudio motion.variables --source=@generatedFrom.json

source is the overlay's generatedFrom (from project.read). Returns the typed schema, current values and templateKey.

project.update-motion-graphic
pandastudio project.update-motion-graphic --id=$ID --overlayId=$GRAPHIC --variables='{"name":"Dana Ruiz"}'

Async. Values are checked against each variable's type, range and options before anything renders. Add --preset=<name> to apply a saved preset; variables apply on top.

motion.save-preset
pandastudio motion.save-preset --source=@generatedFrom.json --name='Client A lower third' --variables=@values.json
motion.list-presets
pandastudio motion.list-presets --templateId=yt-lower-third
motion.generate
pandastudio motion.generate --templateId=yt-lower-third --preset='Client A lower third' --variables='{"name":"Dana Ruiz"}'

A preset only applies to graphics of its own template.

motion.delete-preset
pandastudio motion.delete-preset --templateId=yt-lower-third --name='Client A lower third'
