Mix audio with EQ, compression, carving and mix groups in PandaStudio

PandaStudio mixes audio with three tools: Make room for the voice dips only the speech frequencies of the music while someone talks, every track has its own effects rack (EQ, compressor, de-esser, reverb, gain), and Mix groups turn all voice, music or sound effects up or down at once.

Lowering the whole music track under speech can make it pump. Make room for the voice cuts only the band where speech lives (1000 to 4000 Hz by default) while the main voice or a voiceover is talking, by up to 2 to 18 dB depending on the Amount, so the music keeps its body. It sits next to Lower when someone talks and works well with a lighter setting of it. Each audio track, and the main voice, also has an effects rack that runs top to bottom: Gain, Peaking EQ, Low Shelf, High Shelf, High-pass, Low-pass, Compressor, Reverb and De-esser (voice), plus a one-click 3-band EQ. Mix groups set the level of Voice (the main track, voiceovers and the sound of overlay videos), Music and Sound effects from -60 to +12 dB. The export applies everything. The editor preview has limits, listed below, so check a carve or a de-esser in the export.

In the app

  1. 1In the Audio tab, find the music track.
  2. 2Turn on Make room for the voice. Set Amount (the label shows the deepest cut, for example up to -6 dB) and, if you need to, Band from and Band to in Hz.
  3. 3Open Effects on the track (Voice effects for the main voice), choose an effect from Add effect, or click Add 3-band EQ. Effects run top to bottom: use the arrows to reorder, the switch to bypass one, and x to remove it.
  4. 4Open Mix groups and move the Voice, Music or Sound effects slider to turn that whole group up or down.
  5. 5Export and listen: the export applies the carve and every effect.

Ask the AI

Open the AI chat in the editor and say any of these. The agent does the edits for you.

“Make room for my voice in the music instead of ducking it so hard.”
“Add a high-pass and a de-esser to my voice, and a little compression.”
“Turn all the sound effects down 6 dB.”

Examples

What the preview plays

Make room for the voice is not heard in the preview; the export applies it, listening to the main voice and voiceovers. On music and sound tracks the preview plays EQ, filters, gain and reverb as they export, approximates the compressor, and leaves out the de-esser (export only). On the main voice (Voice effects) the preview plays only the gain, up to 100%; the export applies every effect. Mix groups match between preview and export, except that the preview caps each track at 100%, so a boost is heard in the export.

CLI & MCP

Every capability is a verb, reachable from the terminal or from an MCP agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, Continue, Claude Desktop).

project.set-audio-carve
pandastudio project.set-audio-carve --id=$ID --trackId=audio-1 --amount=0.5

trackId is the music track's id. amount 0 to 1 (default 0.25, about 6 dB); lowHz / highHz 160 to 6000; --enabled=false turns it off.

project.set-audio-fx
pandastudio project.set-audio-fx --id=$ID --trackId=main --fx='[{"type":"highpass","params":{"frequency":80}},{"type":"deesser","params":{"intensity":0.4}},{"type":"compressor","params":{"threshold":-20,"ratio":3}}]'

Replaces the track's whole rack, in order; --fx='[]' clears it. Types: highpass, lowpass, lowshelf, highshelf, peaking, compressor, deesser, reverb, gain.

project.set-audio-buses
pandastudio project.set-audio-buses --id=$ID --music=-3 --sfx=-6

voice, music, sfx in dB (-60 to 12). Omitted groups keep their level; --reset=true sets all to 0 first.
