Work on the same PandaStudio projects from two Macs

PandaStudio can keep your projects in your iCloud Drive, Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive folder, so the same projects, with their recordings and media, open on every computer where you set the same location.

Since PandaStudio 2.1.33, every project is its own folder: the project file plus a media folder with its recordings, narration, music and images. Point the Projects location in Settings at a folder your cloud drive syncs and your other Mac sees the same projects. PandaStudio never uploads anything itself and has no server of its own for this: your cloud drive's app does the syncing, so it must be installed and signed in on each Mac (Settings warns you when it isn't running). Projects made on the other Mac appear in My Projects by themselves, and a file iCloud hasn't downloaded yet shows a Downloading from the cloud badge. If a project is open on one Mac, the other shows Open on (that Mac) and warns before you edit it, offering to work on a copy. If both Macs save changes, PandaStudio asks whether to use their version or keep yours as a copy: nothing is ever overwritten without asking. If a project's media moved, PandaStudio finds it again by name, size and fingerprint. To hand a project to someone else, or to a Mac without the shared folder, export it as a package (a zip with all its media) and import it on the other computer.

In the app

  1. 1Update PandaStudio to the latest version on both Macs.
  2. 2On the Mac that has your projects, open Settings, then Projects, and click iCloud Drive (or Dropbox, Google Drive or OneDrive, or Choose folder for any other synced folder).
  3. 3Click Move projects here. PandaStudio copies each project with its media, checks every file, and only then moves the originals to the Trash. A project open in the editor is skipped until you close it.
  4. 4On the other Mac, open Settings, then Projects, and choose the same cloud folder.
  5. 5Wait for your cloud drive to finish syncing before switching Macs. Projects still downloading show a Downloading from the cloud badge.
  6. 6To share a single project instead, open its menu in My Projects, choose Package, and import the zip on the other computer from Home (or drop the zip onto Home).

Ask the AI

Open the AI chat in the editor and say any of these. The agent does the edits for you.

“Keep my projects in iCloud Drive so they open on my other Mac.”
“Move all my projects to Dropbox.”
“Is this project open on another computer?”
“Find the missing media for this project.”
“Package this project so I can send it to my editor.”

CLI & MCP

Every capability is a verb, reachable from the terminal or from an MCP agent (Claude Code, Cursor, Cline, Continue, Claude Desktop).

system.set-projects-location
pandastudio system.set-projects-location --provider=icloud

Also --provider=dropbox, googledrive or onedrive, --folder=<path>, or --reset=true. Add --move=true to move existing projects (a job).

system.get-projects-location
pandastudio system.get-projects-location --json

Shows the location, its cloud service and whether that service's app is running on this computer.

system.move-projects-to-location
pandastudio system.move-projects-to-location --dryRun=true --json

Without dryRun it copies, verifies and then moves the originals to the Trash. Ask before moving someone's projects.

project.sync-status
pandastudio project.sync-status --json

Who else has the project open and which computer saved it last.

project.relink
pandastudio project.relink --dryRun=true --json

Finds moved media by name, size and fingerprint.

project.package
pandastudio project.package --format=zip --json

A zip (or folder) with the project and all its media. Import it with project.import-package --source=<zip>.
